Youth women through Tailoring skill training program
WEDS Trust organized a tailoring training program for women in Sanarpatti near Dindigul with the aim of promoting self-employment and financial independence among women from economically weaker backgrounds.
Under this program, around 125 women received training in tailoring skills, enabling them to gain practical knowledge required to work in the garment industry or start their own businesses.
At the end of the training program, all participants were provided with certificates, qualifying them to seek employment in garment manufacturing units or to establish their own home-based tailoring businesses.
The program created significant livelihood opportunities. Out of the trained women, 37 participants (62%) were able to secure employment after the training. Among them:
23% found employment in the garment manufacturing industry
Around one-fifth secured jobs in local tailoring shops
11 women (18%) successfully started their own home-based tailoring businesses
This initiative has helped many women gain financial independence and improve their family income while also strengthening their confidence and social participation.
Through such programs, WEDS Trust continues its mission of empowering women with sustainable skills and livelihood opportunities.
Tree Plantation Initiative for Environmental Awareness
In another initiative focused on environmental protection, WEDS Trust conducted a tree plantation program near Vettuvankeni.
Saplings were planted in public areas to promote greenery and environmental awareness. Volunteers and local residents actively participated in the event, demonstrating collective responsibility toward protecting nature.
The organization emphasized the importance of planting trees to improve air quality, conserve biodiversity, and create a healthier environment for future generations.
WEDS Trust continues its commitment to supporting education for underprivileged children, particularly girls. As part of this initiative, financial assistance was provided to students to help them continue their schooling without interruption.
The support was distributed to several girl students from economically weaker families to cover educational expenses. The program aims to encourage families to prioritize education and prevent school dropouts among girl children.
Representatives from WEDS Trust highlighted the importance of education as a foundation for empowering young girls and enabling them to build independent and successful futures. Beneficiaries and their families expressed gratitude for the timely assistance.
